Alberto González Cobo is a senior associate in the Corporate Law practice group of the Madrid office of Garrigues. He specializes in national and international mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, venture capital, and in general corporate law in different sectors, including, among others, energy, insurance and education.
Since January 2025, Alberto is doing a secondment in the Garrigues' New York office. From there, he provides advice on Spanish corporate law to North American clients, while also advising his Spanish clients.
Experience
Throughout his professional career, Alberto has advised on investment and divestment processes in Spanish and foreign companies in various sectors and industries (energy, insurance, infrastructure, food and education, among others). He advises both private equity firms and companies in the industry in each of the milestones of this type of transactions: design and legal structuring of the investment, legal review of target companies, drafting of the sale and purchase agreements and all the documents signed by the parties throughout the process (from shareholders or partners agreements to agreements with the management team, among others).
Moreover, he has participated in the planning and execution of reorganization and integration processes of companies, groups of companies and Collective Investment Institutions, mergers, spin-offs and dissolutions; and he provides recurring advice on commercial contracts and Corporate Law.
