Garrigues, the only Spanish law firm in the FT ranking that measures its reduction of GHG emissions
This is the fifth consecutive year that the firm has been recognized for its efforts in combatting climate change
Garrigues has once again been included in the prestigious Europe's Climate Leaders ranking, prepared by the Financial Times and the data provider Statista, which recognizes the 600 European companies that have made the greatest progress in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
It is the only Spanish law firm to be named in the 2025 edition of this ranking, What is more, only 34 Spanish companies are included in the ranking and Garrigues is among the top 10 of these.
Specifically, the firm has managed to reduce by 39.2% the intensity of its scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions -which come, respectively, from a company's own operations and from the energy it uses- and to reduce its total core emissions by 89.7%. These figures show an improvement on the results for last year, which amounted to 32.7% and 82.8%, respectively.
The list focuses primarily on those companies that have achieved the greatest reduction in the intensity of their scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions over a five-year period (2018-23 for this edition). It also considers other factors such as transparency in the communication of scope 3 emissions (which come from the supply chain and tend to account for the greater part of companies' carbon emissions).
